BRIC (+Poland).

Let's just encourage our children to learn Estonian, a total irrelevance in view of the fact that the countries where there is growth are speaking:-

Portuguese
Russian
Chinese
English (India)

Not one of these is considered a priority in Estonia, so it's an irrelevant country with no growth potential. Reply to the comment answer

What an idiotic, ill-informed post. Read the ERR article on English proficiency here you bigoted moron. Your post has the putrid smell of an esti=NO rant.

Really, I hadn't noticed recently how Estonians had suddenly progressed in English language skills! That is unless we count all those young generation kiddies that went to work in UK & Ireland because there were no decent jobs for them even in Tallinn!

You are another one who apparently can't read. The ERR article specifically states the European Commission study was done with ninth graders, so that shoots your ' young generation kiddies that went to work in UK & Ireland because there were no decent jobs for them even in Tallinn!' theory full of holes, but don't stop shovelling your sh-t! You're good at it!

Geopolitics are what they are.
Can You imagine the BE-NL-LUX countries standing ignoring the German hinterland?
Gone are the days of the Estonian manors where the combination of cheap labors and export to Russia brought wealth to some.
Now that the Estonians are free, their history can show a possible way to wealth for many... Reply to the comment answer

What a cynical article that only fuels old sentiments and references to the past and the "good old days", i.e. long lines for toilet paper, cheap shoes, ball point pens that don't work, and eating ox tail soup and pickles (the only thing in some stores)toward the end of Soviet Statehood in 89 and 90. I am critical of some the Estonian policies, but, things are one hell of a lot better than they were during the "old days". Why bring up the specter of "tanks"? Reply to the comment answer
