Only in Estonia: pay for your Xmas tree by mobile phone
15.12.2009, 13:36Estonians can now bring their Christmas tree from state forest and pay for it by mobile phone or online bank.
This new type of service is provided by state-owned Forest Management Centre RMK which enables customers to choose a Christmas tree from the forests managed by RMK, take it down and pay for in advance by an online bank or, if the customer prefers, in the woods by mobile payment service.
Prices and mobile bank telephone numbers:
- trees shorter than 1 metre cost 50 kroons (call 900 0050 900 0050)
- trees from 1 up to 2 metres cost 150 kroons (call 900 0150 900 0150)
- trees from 2 up to 3 metres cost 200 kroons (call 900 0200 900 0200)
After the mobile payment transaction, the customers receives an SMS confirming the payment. It will be invoiced in the next bill.
RMK says that online banking service should be used if the person's mobile phone bill is paid by the employer.
