Estonia, tiger that is jumping the wrong way

It is not THE Estonians which feel insulted by Krugman and it is not THE Estonians which opted for austerity. It is THE elite of this country which told the people this is the way to go and now THEY feel insulted by somebody mocking about this.
In the streets, among the people I can't see any of this "oh, we all gave out best for the country and we are proud of it" attitude. More likely the "ok, now it is time to pay back what we deserve" (teachers, rescue workers, healthcare workers etc.) attitude. Reply to the comment answer

If you ask the regular person in the baltics, they will tell you that the so called recovery has not effected them. Austerity cost the regular person. In Latvia the people used their feet to disagree with austerity, leaving the country to find a better life. Reply to the comment answer

He is just so wrong on so many levels.

Illogical contradictions on the editorial on their website.

It is painful to read such drivel. Why BBN do you even give voices like this any credence? Reply to the comment answer

Krugman is of course right.

Estonia is full of creeps and nationalists who spent their life trying to rewrite history and feel important.

I feel really sorry for the people that suffered on their national day of deportations.

The innocent, the poor children & people shipped off to Siberia for no reason or summarily shot by the NKVD.

But just bear in mind, Estonia was no exception, all people, all over eastern Europe suffered at the hands of Joseph Stalin, and not one was spared.

The problem is, I doubt very much whether Ansip and his political class would ever stand up for what they believed was right.

The would have been the YES MEN and and the rubber stamp guys of the NKVD no matter what.

Those guys have no balls, and all they want is f..cking Estonia with their tiny minute brains and ZERO culture. Reply to the comment answer

Name ONE member of the government that is NOT a creep or nationalist, starting with that reformed ex communist-who-claims-he wasn't-one ANSIP,

- then all the band of creeps who living on the back of massive EU subsidy claim that Estonia is doing so brilliantly, then got the country into the Euro at precisely the time it goes tits up.

russian guy's comment: of course Estonia doesn't have depts. In Ireland or Southern Europe (SPain) unemplyed get 1500 euro from government during 1-2 years, not sure. So totally ca 25000-30000 euro help. In Estonia you get 60 % of your salary (average is 900 euro brutto) for 6 months, ie. 600x6=3600 euro and then you are no longer "unemployed". You simply is thrown out of statisics. Poor people pay for "nice statitics". Reply to the comment answer

Äripäev: how come you are tolerating this spam buildup on your comments section? Why have a comments section at all? Can't you be bothered with the elementary task of keeping it cleaned up? Reply to the comment answer
