Tallinn as a virtual panorama
13.07.2011, 10:56A virtual panorama of Tallinn’s Old Town has been created by Tallinn 2011, providing an opportunity to take a virtual tour around the medieval part of the city.
The gallery is made up of 100 panoramic images taken from the most distinctive and interesting points of Old Town, thus providing a detailed representation of Tallinn's most beautiful and intriguing area. There are views of streets, parks, interiors of churches, viewing platforms, fortress walls and towers imprinted on the photos.
‘This is the first part of the grand project that has called for the creation of a public three dimensional model of Old Town and it is financed by European funds,’ said Kristel Lelov-Brossard, the director of the geomatics service of City Planning Department. ‘I believe that interest towards panoramic images will not be limited to tourists only. Images will reveal many new sights that were imperceptible even to native citizens of Tallinn’.
The application includes Estonian, English, and Russian texts versions and can be found at 360.tallinn.ee/pano/list/en/ .
