Four Estonian men were killed in a head-on crash when their van crashed into a tractor-trailer on a highway in northern Finland yesterday, reported ERR News.

According to MTV3, the accident happened around 10:30 north of Rovaniemi. The driver of the semi truck was injured but his condition is not critical.

The men were construction workers returning from Keivitsa where they had erected scaffolding. It was raining at the time of the accident. A witness told the investigators that the van, which had Estonian license plates, had overtaken two other vehicles at great speed right before the accident.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry told Delfi that the Estonian Embassy in Finland is working to clarify the circumstances of the accident in cooperation with the Finnish authorities.
