In five years, the shipments of heavy fuel oil and crude oil on the Baltic Sea have increased 39 percent, according to Vopak E.O.S. that handles about 20 percent of the heavy fuel exports of CIS countries.
While in 2007 crude and heavy fuel oil shipments carried on the Baltic Sea amounted to 37.6 million tons, the figure in 2011 was already 52.3 million tons.
To meet the growing demand, Vopak E.O.S. is planning to increase notably its existing number oof storage tanks and is negotiating possible expansion plans with local authorities.
