Tallinn Administrative Court ruled this week that the state is to pay back Hotel Viru 170,000 euros that the company paid in state duty in the ongoing court dispute.

Finnish company Pontos Group that owns the hotel has filed a lawsuit against the City of Tallinn and is claiming 162 million euros for the City’s refusal made in 2008 to allow the company to build a 17-storey extention to the current Hotel Viru building although the City had initially approved the project.

The court now found that Pontos has been forced to pay excessive state duties in connection with filing the lawsuits and that such high state duties were unconsitutional.
