Preliminary design documentation for Rail Baltic to be ready by 201615.06.2012, 13:54
At the meeting of the Rail Baltic workgroup held on Wednesday in Tallinn, the partners agreed to carry out further preparations for railway construction for the next 3.5 years.
At the meeting attended by representatives of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the European Commission it was decided that the prelimintary design documentation for the construction of Rail Baltic railway would be completed by the end of 2015.
The workgroup welcomed the inclusion of Polish representatives in preparations. Poland has virtually completed preparations for the section connecting Warsaw and Lithuanian border and by 2020 should modernise this section.
The workgroup also approved joint requirements for processing planning procedures and preparation of preliminary design documentation.
The workgroup also aims to complete all environmental impact assessments by the end of 2015 and specify cost estimations.
The workgroup also decided to include Finland in these preparations.
The next meeting of the workgroup will take place on September 12 in Poland.
